'The Day The Earth Caught Fire' is full-on electro-pop. Like a 1950s sci-fi movie soundtrack, with eerie theremin effects, sonic beeps and vibrant lead guitar... the noise of The Invisible Collaborators underpinning Sissy Space Echo's sweet, but also ominous, vocal. The flipside brings more electronic soundscapes - but this time the buzz of 1980s 8-bit home computers, combined with a punk-influenced guitar coda, on the track 'They'll Fix You (They Fix Everything)'. It's short, it's sharp, it's pure Sissy Space Echo & The Invisible Collaborators. This is a band who don't stick to one style. They're just as likely to produce a fuzzed-up drone rock record as they are a synthpop indie dancefloor filler. Or, they might not do either of those things.
